Mehndi Madada - Final Diploma Project


Mehndi Madada furniture is embedded to Indian henna tradition.
I developed this project during a year in India in a intercultural way.
First I wrote a thesis with all the research done on my subject: Henna
​​​​​​​
The thesis focus on the Indian tradition and history of henna taking 
into account the way made into globalization world.

Then I focused the design conception on one particular profession, 
Henna (or Mehndi) artistin the aim of helping them to practice their 
work without back pain and body pain
The user type is a women artist who making Mehndi on hands 
and feet of future brides


I also worked with local bamboo makers and a local tailor to make my model. 
The project was focused also on promoting 
Indian crafts (henna artist, bamboo makers and tailors).

Mehndi Madada offers a solution to help henna artists.Thanks to the furniture they 
adopt an healthier posture and they can easily carry all their materials in one pack.
Mehndi madada come from the hindi word 'madada madada' which means support, aid
Mehndi Madada is an helping hand to henna artists.
